Bright sunlight and shade
Let's look at the adjustment you would make when you have bright sunlight and shaded areas in the same scene, typical in a Carwash tunnel entrance or exiting areas. Suppose there is a small to medium amount of sunlight.
If you simply keep the camera’s default image settings, it will suffice to illuminate the scene without overexposing the brightly lit parts of the field of view or underexposing the shaded areas of a vehicle entering or exiting the area.
<Disclamer> The recommended Spot AI camera settings for most cameras are 1920/1080P, 15 FPS, and H.264/H265.
However, these are the recommended settings ONLY for a Carwash using a camera for vehicles entering or exiting an Automated Wash Tunnel. Spot AI only supports up to two out of sixteen total cameras per business appliance with these resolutions.
<NOTE> Image quality settings are a unique configuration that will never be the same from camera to camera. This applies to every image setting available on any IP camera which will have to be tweaked based on what the lens field of view is trying to capture. It is the customer's responsibility to tweak these settings for optimal viewing. Spot AI can provide limited guidance on these settings.
If applicable to your camera: You can also schedule a combination of settings, including WDR, by the time of day. For example, you may want to set WDR to Strong during the day but turn it off entirely at night.
To further optimize image quality at night, you can adjust the camera’s exposure and slow down the shutter speed, allowing more light. Fast-moving objects in the Field Of View — cars, for example — will appear blurry. But if you’re interested in capturing clear, bright images in the dark, slowing the FPS <Frames per second> is likely your best option.
You can make all of these changes by logging in to the camera’s web interface, where you can see real-time camera views and get instant feedback on the modifications that you make. Conversely, you can upload a general Spot Cam config file to your cameras that has preset settings for outdoor-High-Sunlight instances by Ctrl-clicking <HERE>.
To use the preset config file, simply download the <Zip config file>, and log in to your Spot AI Camera via the web interface. Then click on Local Configuration, Import parameter path, and click Save.
