Setup
Currently, we do not detect if the camera actually supports PTZ, so once PTZ is enabled in the dashboard, every Hikvision or Dahua vendor camera will have an ‘enable PTZ’ button in Configuration, regardless if it has the feature set, so only enable this if you are certain the customer has a PTZ camera from a supported vendor. This will be improved on in the future.
- We are actively working on increasing video quality
- This is a feature under active development and we’d love to hear use cases and desired functionality of any customer. If you have any other questions, reach out to @Nathan Harmon, the lead developer on this feature.
Supported Cameras
PTZ capable cameras from the following vendors are currently supported: “Dahua”, and “Hikvision”.
Example Models
Hikvision PTZ Camera DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3
Enabling PTZ support
Support can be enabled for an organization on the settings page:
Native Camera Configuration
PTZ uses ONVIF standard protocols to control the cameras. Enabling and configuring ONVIF differs per vendor.
Dahua
ONVIF is enabled by default. The default admin user can be used for ONVIF. No setup required.
Hikvision
ONVIF is disabled by default. ONVIF users are separate from web users. The ONVIF user must have “Operator” or “Administrator” level access.
Configuration
After enabling PTZ support for an organization, supported vendor cameras will allow for the configuration of ONVIF credentials during camera setup:
NOTE:
- Currently, the credentials are not verified during configuration. Incorrect credentials will appear as errors in the console during use in the Live Player.
- Different vendors have stricter security requirements. Hikvision, for instance, will temporarily lockout the user after a number of failed attempts.
