Downloading, sharing, and saving video is often at the center of your security initiatives. Spot makes it incredibly easy to keep videos for future reference or share videos with your team, or the authorities. There's a bunch of different ways we can help you do this so let's break it down:
Download
Downloading videos saves the clip you're viewing onto your computer or laptop. This can be done from anywhere, even across the internet. This is great when you need a hard copy of any security footage. To download any of your clips, start on the Search page and click on the camera you want to view. Scroll down and click on a segment that you'd like to download. By default, clips will be set to a 5-minute increment, which you can extend by changing the Clip Duration like so.
Once you're done selecting the Clip Duration, scroll back up to the video feed, and at the top right, you'll see the Share Arrow button. Click on it and select Download and the clip will be saved onto your computer!
Share
Spot makes it easy to share videos externally and internally. All of your live video feeds and clips can be shared in a few seconds via a YouTube-like link. To get started, from the Search page go to the clip, or from the Live page go to the live video you'd like to share. Next, click on the Share Arrow button at the top right of the video and click on Share.
Once you click that, you'll be able to set a Clip Expiration. The Clip Link can be shared through email, text message, or by copying and pasting the link.
Copy and paste and send this link to anyone via any messaging system you use - email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, to name a few. We take security very seriously at Spot, so whoever gets this link only has access to the video you shared, and nothing else in your dashboard!
Once you've decided that you want to turn off access to the video link, simply go back to the same clip and click the Share button once again to turn it off. If you followed the steps correctly, when you go back to the same link, you should see a window like this:
Save
Saving videos to the Spot system itself is another way to keep your videos on hand. You can save any of your clips for future access - and anyone in your team who has Video on-demand access enabled can refer to them as well. To save a clip, start on the Search page. Then, click on a camera and choose a clip you're interested in saving. By default, the clip will be set to a 5-minute segment, but you can extend this by changing the Clip Duration below. Once you've chosen the correct duration, click the Share Arrow button at the top right of the video and then Save to Case.
You'll see a box pop up to Select Case or Create a new Case. Selecting an existing case will save the clip to it. Selecting create a new case will prompt you to enter a case title and description. Click the blue Save Clip button to finish up.
All of your saved clips can be found in the Cases tab at the top of the page. Check out this article for more information on Cases.
