How it works
Bandwidth usage is driven by several factors. A higher density of cameras or higher resolution footage both increase bandwidth requirements. When IVR bandwidth consumption exceeds the network equipment rating within a customer environment, it risks stability and can cause cameras to appear offline. Monitoring bandwidth is critical for identifying when network problems arise and understanding when more bandwidth is needed to keep your network stable. That's why we've created an easy way to view bandwidth consumption metrics within the Spot dashboard, available to all customers.
Navigation
-
To access the Metrics page for Network Bandwidth consumption, go to Maintain > Metrics
How to Use
- When you navigate to the metrics page, users will default to the sub-tab “Appliances”
- There are two tabs available, “Appliances” and “Locations”, users can navigate between tabs to view different data
- Additionally, users will have two default metrics available (Upload Bandwidth AVG and Download Bandwidth AVG), they can use the Metrics dropdown to add (Upload Bandwidth MAX and Download Bandwidth MAX)
-
On the appliance tab, customers can add appliances to compare bandwidth usage between appliances (units are in Mbps)
-
If a user toggles to the location tab, customers can add locations to compare bandwidth usage between locations (units are in Mbps)
-
Additionally, customers can change the time range shown in one of two ways
-
Selecting the presets in the upper right hand corner of the graphs
-
Using the drag selector at the bottom of the graph
-
- The bandwidth shown includes both LAN traffic and WAN traffic
