Overview
Improving security and customer analytics is even easier than it was before. With Vehicle Insights, you can have your cameras count the number of vehicles within a given area, how long they remain idle, and how often vehicles are in the area on both a short term (daily and hourly) and long term (weekly and monthly) basis.
Step 1: Choose Insight Type
From the Spot Dashboard, click Intelligence along the top menu bar, then select Vehicle Insights.
Choose which type of insight you’d like to set up from the pop-up menu.
Step 2: Create your insight dashboard

Step 1: Name your dashboard. You can also add an optional description of what the dashboard is for.
Step 2: Select the cameras you’d like to use. Once you click Select Camera, you’ll see your full list of cameras on the right hand side of the screen. Note, you can only set up one camera at a time.
Step 3: Add a count line. On the live image of your selected camera, you’ll click anywhere on the screen where you’d like to count vehicles, then click again to end the line. Select whether you’d like vehicles coming in, going out, or both counted in the lower left corner of the screen. Then, click the circles to set the direction.
Step 4: Choose the days of the week, and the time range that the dashboard should be active.
Step 5: Click Create Dashboard in the lower left corner to finish the creation process.
Vehicle Idle Time - Click to Expand
Step 1: Name your dashboard. You can also add an optional description of what the dashboard is for.
Step 2: Set your idle time threshold. The default is 1 minute, however you can set it as low as 30 seconds or as high as 99 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds with the custom option.
Step 3: Select the cameras you’d like to use. Once you click Select Camera, you’ll see your full list of cameras on the right hand side of the screen. Note, you can only set up one camera at a time.
Step 4: Choose either Entire Cam or Zone. If you select Zone, on the live image of your selected camera, you’ll draw the zone of interest. Click the image to start drawing your zone. Connect the dots into a completed shape, then name the zone and save it.
Step 5: Choose the days of the week, and the time range that the dashboard should be active.
Step 6: Click Create Dashboard in the lower left corner to finish the creation process.
Vehicle Presence - Click to Expand
Step 1: Name your dashboard. You can also add an optional description of what the dashboard is for.
Step 2: Set your presence threshold. The default is 1+ Vehicle, however you can set it as high as 3+ Vehicles.
Step 3: Select the cameras you’d like to use. Once you click Select Camera, you’ll see your full list of cameras on the right hand side of the screen. Note, you can only set up one camera at a time.
Step 4: Choose either Entire Cam or Zone. If you select Zone, on the live image of your selected camera, you’ll draw the zone of interest. Click the image to start drawing your zone. Connect the dots into a completed shape, then name the zone and save it.

Note: If you need to edit your dashboard, click Intelligence from your Spot Dashboard, then select the insight dashboard you need to edit and select Edit from the top right corner.
Step 3: View your dashboard
Once your dashboard is created, you can access it from the Intelligence tab of your Spot Dashboard. You’ll see a small version on the main Intelligence page. Clicking on your insight dashboard will allow you to see greater detail, select the time range you’d like to view, and even export your insights to a CSV file.
Deleting Dashboards
Once a dashboard is created, you can edit it to suit your needs. However if the dashboard is no longer of use to you and you'd like to delete it entirely, you can do that too.
Step 1: Click the dashboard you'd like to delete from the Intelligence Tab.
Step 2: Click Edit from the top right corner.
Step 3: Click the trash icon, mid-screen on the right.
Step 4: Confirm that you want to delete the dashboard via the pop-up.
Search Options
If you have more than one insight dashboard set up, you can search by the insight type, location of the insight, or even the camera name. In the drop down for type, location, or cameras, simply select which options you’d like to view. To reset back to default, simply click the drop down again and deselect the options.
Limitations
While people and vehicle detection are available on both the Core and Pro license packages, people and vehicle presence and counting are only available on the Pro package. More information on the packages is available here.
